Oak Lodge School/Old London - June 10, 2014

Today we had Oak Lodge School students and staff introduce us to new experiences.  First students learned how to make animation projects using two forms of iPad software.  The first project we made consisted of building the word LONDON using time lapse software.  The second project involved using the STOP FRAME technique.  The projects were very neat to watch when we were done.  Next, we were taken to Wimbledon Park for a kayaking adventure.  Students changed into swim suits and buddied up with a partner.  All students then were given a kayak and taught how to use the paddles in tandem to move and change direction.  We spent an hour on the water and the weather was beautiful and sunny.

We returned to Oak Lodge for lunch.  We had a choice between tuna and chicken pasta.  Our meal was accompanied with salad and donuts for dessert.  After lunch Mrs. Cathy Campbell took us to old London to Christopher Wren's Monument which commemorated the Great London Fire.  Several of us had the opportunity to climb to the top of the monument.  We walked down Pudding Lane and also visited the areas which were featured in Harry Potter's movies as Diagon Alley.  Mrs. Campbell also showed us some of the newer architecture in the area including the "Gherkin", the "Walkie Talkie", the "Cheese Grater", and the Lloyds Insurance buildings.

We capped off the night by returning to Oak Lodge School and going out to pizza with the residential students at Oak Lodge near Clapham Common.  After dinner we returned home to our hotel.  Today we logged an additional 10 miles on our feet.  Tomorrow, we visit the Banksy tunnel for a graffiti exhibition as well as walk along the south bank of the River Thames.
