Brighton - June 8, 2014

Today we went to Brighton.  We walked a mile from our hotel to the train station in Clapham Junction where we boarded the train to Brighton.  When we arrived in Brighton, we walked to the pier and took some pictures before heading to the Royal Pavilion which used to be the summer palace for King George IV and King William before Queen Victoria sold it.

We went on a self-guided tour with handheld devices which described each of the locations in the Pavilion.  Unfortunately it was against the rules to photograph anything so the students could not take pictures.

When we finished with the Pavilion, we went shopping for souvenirs and then headed to the Brighton Pier.  Everyone explored the pier and then we had an early dinner.  After dinner we again explored the city by checking out many of the shops.  Since we had a later train to catch we returned to the stony Bighton Beach and relaxed.  Mike and Adam decided it would be a good idea to go into the water.  They quickly discovered that the English Channel is quite cold.

We then returned to the Brighton train station to catch our train ride back to the hotel.  The kids were beat as we walked the equivalent of 10 miles today.
